Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

Better Health - More Energy!

This series of devotionals develops the New Testament concept of living the life of grace. Many of them present the blessings that await those who choose to live the life of grace. And those blessings even reach to our bodies.

There is both medical and biblical evidence of the touch of God on the bodies of those who choose grace by living out the five commands of Romans 6:11-13.

When we live out those commands, we put the flesh out of power and are filled with the Holy Spirit. A partial list of those things produced by the flesh in recorded Galatians 5:19-21a. In the list words like anger and hatred are mentioned. To live by grace, then, is to be free of anger and hatred.

A lady told of having a heart attack and then being told by doctors that there was no physical reason for it. She added, “I had a heart attack because I resented God for the death of my husband.”

The medical world testifies of medical evidence that such negative emotions as anger, hate, and resentment drain away the health of the person guilty of these emotions.

Many have admitted that things like anger, hate, bitterness, fear, jealousy, and worry drain away much of the energy a night’s rest had stored up in them.

In Romans 8:11 Paul writes of the energizing of the body of those who live the Spirit-filled life:

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Paul’s uses the word “dwell” here in place of the word “fill.” The meaning is the same. Spirit-filled people experience a new vitality in their “mortal” bodies.

Why not try the five imperative approach today and test this out for yourself if you have not before?
