Good Mix

For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.   Hebrews 4:2

When two or more people on the same job are productive in their work, some say, “They are a good mix.” In a negative way Hebrews 4:2 tells of a good mix.

The Israelites, on the edge of the land of Canaan which God promised them, did not have the faith to go in and take the land because there were such things as giants and walled cities there. A good mix would have been faith on the part of the Israelites to go in and take the land.

A good mix begins when a believer is confronted with a promise of God, personal guidance from God or any other thing that calls for faith on the part of the believer. A good mix is completed when the believer responds in faith.

The first ingredient of a good mix is found in the promise of Jesus recorded in Luke 6:38.

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

When we add the essential ingredient of faith and give, the result is a good mix that brings blessing from the Lord. Multitudes of people declare, for example, that when they provided the mixture of faith and action to God’s promise about tithing, their financial status radically improved. It was a good mix.

Consider the Scriptural teaching that when a person receives Jesus as Lord and Savior, he is spiritually crucified, buried and resurrected. This truth is the first ingredient of a good mix.

Many serious-minded believers have mixed faith with this first ingredient of truth and believed that the statement is true. It is a good mix resulting in the believer experiencing spiritual crucifixion, burial and resurrection. This good mix of faith with truth has ushered the conscientious believer into the ultimate in Christian living.
