Jesus Came to Explain The Father

We can never exhaust the beautiful message of the Christmas story. The coming of Jesus was the coming of God to live with us on planet earth. And that means more than we can ever grasp.

As John says in John 1:14:

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Four verses below, in John 1:18, John gives one of the explanations for the coming of Jesus to be with us.

No one has seen God at any time but the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father has declared Him.

Jesus came to give mankind a clear understanding of what the Father is like. He could show us the Father because He Himself is God.

Jesus gives other explanations for His coming to earth in human form. In John 5:17, Jesus tells us that he is doing the works of the Father. This revealing verse says:

But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working”.

In John 14:10, Jesus expresses, in another way, the reason for His coming to earth.

… the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

What a message to today’s believers!

When we obey the five commands of Romans 6:11-13, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit live and work through us. In a sense we can be an extension of the Christmas story.
