Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed (Mark 1:35).

We know the passage well. When the disciples found Jesus he said to them:

Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth (Mark 1:38).”

In prayer Jesus had received a word from His father that He was to leave His present location to preach elsewhere. Prayer for Jesus meant a time for listening. Read the following passage indicating that prayer for Moses was largely a matter of listening.

Now when Moses went into the tabernacle of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice of One speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the Testimony, from between the two cherubim; thus He spoke to him.

As Moses entered the earthly Holy of Holies, we may continually enter the heavenly Holy of Holies—and talk to God—and listen to God.

Live out the five imperatives of Romans 6:11-13 and live in the heavenly Holy of Holies—to speak—and to listen.
