Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

Stay Free

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.    Galatians 5:1

Paul led the Galatian believers to Christ and then taught them how to live by grace. After he left, false teachers came and told them Paul was wrong and that they should live under the law. In the Book of Galatians, Paul attempts to bring his readers back to the life of grace which is a life of freedom. In Galatians 4, Paul had written that to live under law is to live like Hagar and Ishmael. They were slaves. He contrasts them with Sarah and Isaac who were free.

Notice the words “yoke of bondage” in Galatians 5:1. Trying to please God or to live the abundant life through living by the law is bondage. Galatians 3:10 says, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” Everyone who seeks to live by the law in order to experience the abundant life is making himself a slave.

Sadly, only a few of God’s children have ever heard the message of freedom through living by grace. They have often heard, in one form or another, “Do your best for Jesus.”

Those who have heard about the life of grace and have chosen to live out that life of freedom have spiritual rest and peace. Their ministry to others has been impacted in a positive way.

In Romans 6, Scripture reveals how to experience the life of freedom. Following that explanation, verse 14 says:

… now you are no longer tied to the law where sin enslaves you, but you are free under God's favor and mercy. (The Living Bible)

If you have found that freedom, “Stay free.”
